Actually, "Classics A Day" has no official name. Some time ago, a few classical music aficionados on Twitter started listening to a certain type of classical music every day for a month, and sharing what they were playing. The themes were marked with hashtags (a word or phrase with a pound sign in front of it to make it searchable), and a meme was born. Early themes included #symphonyaday, #operaaday, #Russiancomposersaday.
"Classics a Day" is simply the collective term for all of these monthly listening sessions.
Excellent site, Ralph!
ReplyDeleteBefore we forget, we should document all of the monthly hashtags. This is what I remember:
July 2010: #AmericanADay
June 2010: #SchumannADay
May 2010: #Russiancomposersaday
Not sure about #ConcertoaDay, #LivingComposeraDay. Was there a #OperaaDay?
I do know that #SymphonyaDay was the first one (January or February 2010?)
