After a long hiatus, #ClassicsADay returns! For the rest of August, the goal is to listen to one recording by Serge Koussevitzky every day. There's quite a lot to choose from. He was the music director of the Boston Symphony for 25 years, so there are a lot of recordings to choose from.
He was also a double-bassist, and composed some works for the instrument. So recordings of Koussevitzky's compositions count as well. And to extend it even further, Koussevitzky was a champion of contemporary music, and commissioned and/or premiered many important works, such as Ravel's Second Piano Concerto. So if you want to listen to a work that's connected to Koussevitzky in some significant fashion, that's fine. Just make sure to explain it in your tweet.
Remember to use the hashtag #KoussevitzkyyADay in your conversations, or at least #ClassicsADay. Let the listening begin!
